At D.N.A we use what is called Integrated Pest Management ( we will abbreviate this IPM). Essentially this means we use less chemicals and more environmentally sound ways of controlling weeds and pests in turf grass. While we do offer weed control programs consisting of 2 rounds of Pre Emergence herbicide which acts as a barrier which kills weeds as they germinate and try to grow, and rounds of post emergence herbicide which kills whats above ground; there are other ways of doing this. IPM is also about tolerance. It's about bringing the weed population to a tolerable level. The best way to have a low pest population in your lawn is to have a full and healthy lawn which is obtained with proper lawn care and maintenance. Proper mowing height, watering schedules, soil nutrition, and properly maintained equipment are on the forefront of a healthy lawn.
We start our pre emergence rounds at the end of Feburary to help stave off spring and summer weeds like crabgrass, dallis grass ect, and again in August to help stave off winter weeds.
